Danielle Catté • American, b. 1976
Glenside, Pennsylvania 19038 USA
"I am making an attempt to show that beautiful second of the moment when playing with an idea and the decision to leap into action exists. Such as a photograph or illustration, it is my wish to capture those subtle moments of importance, as they dance around in a single frame, with paintings, sculpture and functional art.
My working title for this concept is 'Creation Clouds'."
Danielle Catté is an interdisciplinary artist from Glenside, Pennsylvania. She studied fine art, music, dance, and writing. Today her work comprises of painting, drawing, sculpture, and functional art. She studied at Tyler School of Art, Moore College of Art, and received her undergraduate degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She holds a BFA in Multimedia.
Danielle traveled with sculptor Barry Parker to Budapest, Hungary where she was a visiting artist at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Her travels did not stop there.....
She moved to Los Angeles, California in 2003, met up with a lively bunch of musicians, and began singing in studio and on the stage. She also met master printer and artist Richard Duardo who became not just a mentor but a friend. This is where she learned printmaking and expanded her perspective on painting styles. She occasionally exhibited her painting. In 2012, Danielle was noticed by Gallery Go owner/curator - Elaine Trebek Kares, along with other artists, and her worked travelled all the way to FAME - a group art show in Miami, Florida for Art Basel Miami. The show was curated by New York City artist Chris Riggs.
In 2012, Danielle began working with artists Robb Boldt and Avesha Michael at Bitter Root Pottery - this is where her world of clay began to thrive.
In 2015 Danielle moved back to the east coast and moved her practice to The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA - working alongside an array of artists including Jennifer Martin and Ahrong Kim. Her work involves porcelain sculpture and functional art.
